View of São Roque Park

On one of my last visits to São Roque Park, before getting lost in the paths and gardens of Casa São Roque, I stayed for a while at the entrance to the park and sketched the gate at Travessa das Antas, which is much quieter and has such a beautiful contrast with the green inside the park.

I had already drawn the labyrinth next to the house, but I hadn’t seen the whole park yet. That day I walked around a lot and ended up stopping at the back gate of the park, where I stayed… Notebook, pencil and pens and the will to stand up for a while.

Afterwards, I ended up going to Casa São Roque, which always has some interesting exhibitions to see or simply to sit in the garden and watch time go by. I love the sight of time passing by in this fountain outside the house, when you can see that time passes and leaves its mark everywhere.

Here’s his watercolor, almost as invisible as the time that passes and takes everything.

I’ve been very lucky on my visits to the park, I always end up with a drawing I really like, like the one of the Lake of the 3 Repuxos, but the highlight of the day was the finished watercolor of the gate, which I really liked.
