Extinct Humanity and the Nature That Prevails

Extinct humanity, and nature will prevail. The planet doesn’t need us, that’s just a fact. No matter how much we insist on slowly destroying it, it’ll keep on going, holding its ground, and it’ll find a way to rise back up. Maybe not the way we know it now, but it will. And it probably won’t hold onto much of a memory of us, except for some stubborn piece of trash that insists on lasting longer than it should.
I like to think of this astronaut as a figure that’s no longer human, just a remnant, an empty suit carrying the leftovers of an attempt to somehow keep surviving here. Meanwhile, life just keeps going its own way, sprouting up exactly where you’d least expect it, without asking permission.
It’s not really a pessimistic view, to be honest. It’s almost a relief knowing that, whatever happens to us, nature will always find its way back. Humanity extinct or not, it’ll keep standing, unshaken, indifferent to our plans and to our mistakes.
