Portraits at Jardim do Morro

One of the things almost every Brazilian visiting Porto ends up doing is going to Jardim do Morro. The place has turned into a weekend meeting spot over the years. People come to watch the sunset, meet new people, and listen to street musicians. They usually end up putting on little pocket shows right there.
It’s interesting watching that mix of different people who stick around, some just a little while, others much longer. Talking, watching time pass, waiting for that end of day show. Once the sun sets, most people stay right where they are. It’s really just the start of another lively night in central Porto.
For me it’s an exercise in line, quickly capturing a person in just a few moments. Without making them look completely different, but keeping their essence. And doing it in my own style, closer to comics, which is where I feel most comfortable.
